1099 Filing Rules

A 1099 needs to be filed by you and/or your business for each person to whom you paid during the year:

  • At least $10 in royalties
  • At least $600 in rents, services, prizes and awards, medical and health care payments, and various other payments (please contact us if you are curious if a payment you have made is subject to 1099 filing rules).
  • At least $600 in attorney fees.

 

Examples of common payments that do not require a 1099 to be filed:

  • Payments made in exchange for goods.
  • Payments made to a corporation.

Annual Corporate Minutes Compliance Notice Scam

Some may be receiving notices from the Corporate Regulatory Committee. This notice is designed to look like its coming from the Oregon Corporate Division. The Committee is a private company offering to file annual reports on behalf of companies for a $138 fee in addition to what Corporate Division charges. It is encouraged that you ignore these forms.
